Italy is definitely a very popular destination for foreigners to get married. Many couples choose to get married in Italy because it offers picturesque destinations and locations, which combine history and modernity, high quality services and the human presence harmonized in the natural landscape.
According to the official data, in 2018 + 5% of foreign couples chose Italy as their wedding destination. And again in 2018 Tuscany was awarded the India’s Best Awards as favorite foreign destination for Indian couples.
Tuscany is, of course, the main wedding destination in Italy, but it is not the only one. Many couples, also thanks to famous Hollywood and Bollywood celebrity weddings, are discovering other equally breathtaking destinations and venues for an unforgettable wedding day and a relaxing holiday experience in Italy.
Tuscany: not just Florence as a wedding destination.
Getting married in Tuscany is a dream for many foreign couples. Tuscany is in fact a land full of charm, has a lush and picturesque nature that fascinates in every season of the year. And it is full of ancient small towns and villages that in the last decades have been recovered and brought back to their original splendour. Getting married in Tuscany therefore means many amazing art locations in historical cities like Florence and Siena, or ancient locations in castles, villas or rural villages in which enjoy total privacy immersed in the nature.
Those who want to get married in Florence and are not Catholic can choose a Civil Wedding Cerimony in the town Wedding Hall or in some venues –historical buildings of great charm– designated by the local municipality for the wedding ceremonies, as Sala Rossa, Sala di Lorenzo and Salone de’ Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio; Council Chamber at Villa Vogel; Sala della Carità at Bardini Museum; Garden of the Roses which offers an incomparable view of Florence.
After the ceremony and after some photos in the city you can decide to leave Florence for the wedding lunch and in a few minutes you can immerse yourself in the Tuscan hills.

Not just Florence though. The other popular destinations are Siena and Val d’Orcia, and there are plenty of reasons to prefer them. There are many ancient rural villas renovated and used now for events: they are perfect becuase combine modernity and tradition, and are Unesco heritage sites for their beauty and uniqueness. Choosing Tuscany is always a guarantee of beautiful locations with quality services where you can live not just a marvellous day but a memorable holiday.
Rome: the charm of the eternity.
Rome, the Capital, is the second most popular destination for the couples from all over the world who want to get married in Italy. There are many fascinating locations both for those who choose a Catholic wedding and for those who marry with a Civil Ceremony. The City of Rome offers some really fascinating historical sites for civil marriage. Then you can also find historical churches of various rites. Or you can choose palaces and historic villas –private or international hotels– in which carry out a symbolic rite in an architectural setting that has few equals in the world.

Getting married in Rome also means choosing a location outside the city, in a castle or in an ancient villa surrounded by history and lush nature, which can be reached in a few tens of minutes from the city centre.
Choosing Rome as your wedding destination also means choosing among the best wedding planners in Italy that can provide the highest levels of services for your ‘wedding experience’.
Let professionals organize everything, from the bride’s hairstyle to the most refined lunch, to the ideal holiday for your guests.
Northern Italy: Lake Como.

Lake Como started recently to be known by foreigners as a wedding destination venue, while Italians already chose it for elegant events with international guests.
Choosing a venue on Lake Como to get married is a really refined choice: the villas and hotels available for events are in fact very elegant and the view of the lake, with its calm and discreet nature, ensures to the newlyweds and their guests unforgettable memories of an exclusive event.
Lake Como is also close to Milan and to the international airport of Malpensa, and just a few hours from Venice and Florence, allowing you to extend your holiday and travel through northern Italy.
Venice: the most hospitable City.
The city of Venice is perhaps the most welcoming towards foreign couples wishing to get married in its romantic atmosphere! More and more couples choose Venice because every building, every Church and every corner assure unique, fairytale memories and photos.
Inside Palazzo Cavalli a series of rooms is entirely dedicated to civil marriages, giving a breathtaking view on Canal Grande with a privileged view of the Rialto Bridge. You can gently arrive by a gondola and immerse yourself in the elegance of centuries-old rooms. Palazzo Cavalli is a 16th century building, overlooking the Canal Grande in one of the most picturesque areas of Venice, right next to the Rialto Bridge.
A special location is also the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, a very ancient building complex, perfect both for the civil ceremonies and for the religious ceremonies. Then Palazzo dei Dogi, an ancient building that was the seat of the French and Savoy embassy. And Ca’ Sagredo, one of the most coveted locations in Venice: it is in fact a 15th-century palace, now a national monument; overlooks the Canal Grande and today hosts a 5-star hotel that can be entirely reserved for your wedding. Equally fascinating is the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice housed in an old mill in the Giudecca Island surrounded by baroque buildings.
Amalfi Coast: Capri, Positano and the coastline.
According to statistics, 17% of foreign couples who choose Italy to get married, choose Capri and the Amalfi Coast. And the trend is growing. In the Amalfi Coast you can find fascinating locations and a good climate all year round: so you can live a relaxing honeymoon and guarantee an unforgettable holiday to your guests.
On the Amalfi coast there are in fact picturesque villages and locations, surrounded by an intact and uncontaminated nature. Even here, as in other parts of Italy, old residences, palaces and fortresses have been transformed and have become splendid locations that combine art and modernity to satisfy the most demanding customers from all over the world. You can celebrate fascinating symbolic ceremonies and then have a wedding banquet as only southern Italians can organize.
The most popular wedding venues is Ravello, a small village of less then 3.000 people, perched atop a hill, that has probably the most breathtaking view of the Amalfi Coast and offers locations as Villa Eva, Villa Cimbrone or Belmond Hotel Caruso, for example, where live a really exclusive and luxury wedding.
And how not to be astonished by the Church of the Assumption in Positano or the Cathedral of Sant’Andrea in Amalfi; or the small and intimate Church of San Pancrazio in Conca dei Marini or the spectacular Church of San Gennaro in Praiano that overlooks the sea. They are very popular locations for Catholic cerimonies and have to be booked at least a year before!
And for those who choose a civil ceremony, there are really stunning locations both in Positano and in Amalfi.
Apulia: Salento breathtaking venues.
After the wedding of Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel and the wedding of the Indian steel magnate Pramod Agawarl in 2014, Apulia began to be known as a wedding destination in Italy, too.
Apulia, and Salento, are popular destinations for Italians to get married. Nature offers wide uncontaminated areas rich in orchards and olive groves, and a warm and crystalline sea just a few steps also from the masserie –as the rural villas are called here– more in the interior.
There is the famous Borgo Egnazia, in Savelletri di Fasano, the fabulous resort where the singer Madonna has also stayed. Polignano a Mare is not less fascinating and offers, for example, Grotta Palazzese, a real cave overlooking the sea for an unforgettable ceremony.
